Where Classic Craft Meets Modern Design

Modern patterns for a timeless craft

Modern Plastic Canvas was created from a simple idea: what if plastic canvas could look modern?

For many of us, plastic canvas brings back memories of crafting in the past — colorful tissue box covers, ornaments, and handmade gifts. While those projects were fun, I wanted to explore what would happen if this classic craft met modern design influences like mid-century furniture, clean architecture, and contemporary color palettes.

Modern Plastic Canvas is dedicated to patterns that feel stylish, thoughtful, and display-worthy. From miniature modern furniture to architectural designs and practical home pieces, each pattern is created to bring a fresh perspective to a timeless craft.

My goal is to help makers create projects they’re proud to display in their homes — pieces that feel both handmade and beautifully modern.

What You’ll Find Here

At Modern Plastic Canvas, you’ll find patterns designed with a fresh, modern perspective. Instead of traditional novelty designs, the focus is on pieces that feel stylish and thoughtfully designed.

The collection includes modern home décor, miniature furniture, architectural designs, and practical handmade items that fit beautifully into contemporary spaces. Each pattern is created to be clear, approachable, and enjoyable to stitch—whether you're new to plastic canvas or have been crafting for years.

Design Inspiration

Many of the designs at Modern Plastic Canvas are inspired by mid-century modern style, clean architecture, and simple geometric forms. Natural color palettes, modern interiors, and timeless furniture designs all influence the patterns you’ll find here.

The goal is to create projects that feel less like traditional craft items and more like small pieces of design—handmade objects that look at home on a modern shelf, desk, or tabletop.

Why Plastic Canvas?

Plastic canvas is a wonderfully versatile craft material. It’s sturdy, easy to work with, and perfect for creating structured designs that hold their shape.

While plastic canvas has often been associated with vintage craft styles, it has incredible potential for modern design. With thoughtful patterns and updated color palettes, it can be transformed into projects that feel fresh, contemporary, and uniquely handmade.

A Note to Fellow Makers

If you enjoy creating things with your hands and appreciate thoughtful design, you’re in the right place.

Modern Plastic Canvas is for makers who love classic crafts but are also drawn to clean lines, modern interiors, and timeless design. My hope is that these patterns inspire you to experiment, try something new, and create pieces you’ll be proud to display in your home or give as meaningful handmade gifts.

Whether you're stitching your first plastic canvas project or have been crafting for years, I'm glad you're here.

Meet the Designer

Hi, I’m Theresa — the designer behind Modern Plastic Canvas.

I created Modern Plastic Canvas to explore what happens when a classic craft meets modern design. Plastic canvas has been around for decades, but I believe it still has so much creative potential. By drawing inspiration from mid-century design, modern architecture, and clean color palettes, I design patterns that feel fresh, stylish, and fun to make.

I love creating projects that go beyond traditional plastic canvas designs — from miniature modern furniture and architectural pieces to functional home décor. My goal is to help makers create handmade pieces that feel both creative and beautifully designed.

When I’m not designing patterns, you’ll usually find me experimenting with new ideas in my garden, building with Lego, or on my bicycle touring across America.
